ANYTHING BUT BUSINESS AS USUAL – ADDING A ROCK AND ROLL EDGE TO CORPORATE FUNCTIONS

Already a popular live music venue and pub, The Triffid was looking to expand its offering to corporate functions and other non-music events. They were aware of the wide range of options already available in Brisbane, Australia, so needed a creative way to announce the new offering that would really cut through the clutter.

The city is full of big-name hotel and casino options for corporate functions, but The Triffid has something different – a rock and roll attitude. This was the insight needed to create a memorable and PR-worthy activation.

Embracing the old school rock and roll tradition of musicians throwing TVs out of hotel windows, smashed television sets were strategically placed outside of competitors’ function rooms and halls. The contrast of a smashed TV unit on the sidewalk with the humdrum corporate vibe of the hotel venues meant that event attendees couldn’t help but see that they were missing out on something more special.

The Triffid owner John Collins, himself no stranger to the rock and roll lifestyle as the bassist for the band Powderfinger, absolutely loved it. The stunt raised significant awareness of The Triffid as an option for corporate events and furthered the venue’s reputation as the go-to rock and roll destination in Brisbane.
